Located in the town of Condeixa a Nova in the middle of the Chico Mountains, the Bracas de Casmilo Valley is an Instagram-worthy place. Well, we know that this is the largest concentration of halls in Portugal. These pits are small, laterally grown caves with entrances up to 10 metres high. As far as is known, these limestone layers were formed when the climate was colder than it is today. Goats and sheep were kept in these areas.
How to get there
To get to Vale das Buracas do Casmilo, keep in mind the following directions: Taking the village of Condeixa-a-Nova (in the district of Coimbra) as a reference point, take the IC2 heading south. Then, head towards the village of Arrifana (on the way out of Condeixa), and, finally, go up the hill towards the village of Casmilo.
