The village of Abreiro is located in the municipality of Mirandela, in a valley soaked by the river Tua. The mediaeval pavement that connects the town to the old bridge of Abreiro, the ruins of the mediaeval bridge itself, and the dolmen of Arcã all attest to Abreiro’s enormous archaeological value.

Notice the well-preserved pillory and the imposing manor houses in the village centre, which contrast with the simple granite houses with the typical wooden balconies. Pay special attention to the parish church, the two village chapels, the cross, the Moorish cemetery, and the historic fountain. If you want to get away from it all, don’t miss out on the Terra Olea initiative, which encourages travellers to learn about the olive oil manufacturing process. This invitation includes olive garden tours, olive picking, oil manufacturing, and tastings of several oils!

Did you know that Abreiro has a functioning biological oil mill? Lose yourself in the beauty of the landscape at the Santa Catarina viewpoint, marked by vine-covered slopes, the Tua river winding at the foot, and the Tua line, now deactivated. If you enjoy fishing and hunting, you should know that Abreiro has a fishing area on the Tua river, as well as a hunting reserve.
