Located in the municipality of Ponte da Barca, in the midst of the Peneda do Gerês National Park. The terrain is dotted with almost fifty granaries, evoking the mountain communities’ communal culture. The castle at the top tells the history. Along with the different structures, ranging from the Igreja Matriz to the old washhouses, it’s worth taking a stroll along the pedestrian routes, which lead to breathtaking views and other unwritten secrets.

Lindoso Castle

It was constructed during D. Afonso III’s reign (1210-1279). It is one of the most spectacular mediaeval military monuments. It is located on the Spanish border and acted as an observation point and defence for the country’s sovereignty.
Lindoso’s Spikes

There are 50 stone granaries dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is the country’s largest agglomeration and was historically a symbol of communal work.
Water Hiking Trail



7.5 kilometres to stroll leisurely, the sound of the stream creating the rhythm for the trail’s many sceneries. It starts with a stroll through the village, a living history, continues through the farmed fields and irrigation channels, enters the forest, passes through cork oaks, maritime pine trees, and heather, and ends in a stream environment.
