On the outskirts of the little village of Ermida stands the famed Poço Azul Waterfall.  The location is only accessible on foot. It is roughly 3 kilometres from Ponte do Arado to Tribela, going via Fontes do Vale do Barraco and Curral da Malhadoura. Turn right at the Tribela crossroads and continue walking for another 3 kilometres to the Cascata. Bear in mind that while it is not necessary to be an expert on trails, certain planning and physical conditioning is required. The round-trip walk takes around three hours. There are around 12 kilometres in all, covered between the mountains’ ascents and descents. Additionally, certain sections are cut through brambles, broom, and prickly shrubs.

There are no bars or restaurants near the Poço Azul Waterfall. As a result, it is advised that you bring food and beverages. And, of course, a bag for waste collection! Additionally, a hat, sunscreen, swimming costume, towel, and hiking shoes are required.

The best time to visit Poço Azul in Gerês is during the spring-summer months (May, June and July on sunny days).
